Spring 2018 is here; the weather is getting warmer and the days are getting longer. What better time to update your space and give it a style upgrade for the new season? While giving your home a little rejuvenation might seem like a daunting task, it can actually be very simple with a few spring upgrades. Here’s our top tips for updating your space this season.
Choose a pastel colour scheme
Pastels are one of the hottest trends for 2018, and spring is the perfect time to inject these light and fresh colours into your home. Colours like duck egg blue and millennial pink have a soothing effect, and are a great way to add colour in a soft way. Try adding a throw blanket over furnishing for a quick update, or a few patterned cushions in your favourite hue.
Bringing plants and flowers into your indoor space can give your home a much needed spring boost. House plants also have huge benefits for our health. Plants like aloe vera and spider plants are low maintenance and actually work to purify the air we breathe in! House plants can also help us sleep better, fight colds, reduce stress… the list goes on! Small potted plants and succulents can also give a fresh look to your house décor. Try adding a splash of green to bookcases, windowsills and coffee tables for a quick update.
New Sheets in lighter fabrics
In the winter, you probably decked out your sleeping space with cosy, warming and thick bedsheets, pillowcases and blankets. Spring calls for doing away with those fabrics that kept you warm through the winter chill, and refreshing your bed space with lighter sheets once the ice starts to thaw. Lighter cotton sheets are perfect for the warmer months. Updating your bedsheets is one of the easiest ways to give your bedroom a seasonal refresh, so why not treat yourself to new sheets instead of recycling last springs?
Once the spring sunlight come shining into your home, your painted wall might start to look a little grubby and tired. Our favourite way to inject freshness into your home is to repaint your walls. Your space will feel clean and brand new again after a few licks of paint. Make sure you cover your floors and any furniture you can’t move out of the room.
